Biological growth is an important aspect of church growth besides conversion and transfer growth. As I listened to Rev. Moses Tey preach on nurturing our children in spiritual growth starting from infancy and the likelihood of producing ‘exemplar’ disciples of Christ, I could not agree more to what he said.

The family unit is an integral part of the church family. A happy marriage is the foundation of a blessed family. So, premarital counseling is a prerequisite of all matrimonies held in Mega CMC and sort of ‘compulsory’, no premarital counseling, no wedding at church. The counselors usually a couple, would journey with the newly wed for at least two years.

Mega CMC is a very ‘productive’ church. Each year, we have approximately 25 newly born babies and we encourage infant baptism. Parents are tasked to provide Christian education to their children at home. We encourage parents to bring their children to Sunday school. And therefore, we put in a lot of resources to our Sunday School. We set up a family ministry to provide classes and support groups with the aim of helping to build happy marriages and imparting parental skills. Sex education is also conducted for parents and adults.

We design our Christian education to cover all age groups to ensure there is no miss for any category; and a dedicated full time ministry staff is assigned to each of these categories. 

They may be summarized as follows: 

Sunday school from toddler up to age 10,
Pre-teen for age 11 to 12
MJYF for age 13 to 17
University and college fellowship
Working youth ministry
Young adult ministry (married youths)
Family groups
Senior people fellowship

Aside from these, we always encourage our brothers and sisters to serve together as a family. Serving together will also bond the family and thus bring unity and great family experience in mission and ministry. Often times, we see families growing stronger, closer and happier after they return from mission trips. It was a moving sight seeing a young couple carrying their infant and with another young kid in tow knocking on the villager’s door and going from door to door evangelising. It’s more encouraging when you see the little boy sharing the gospel with the kid while his parents are talking to the adults.

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
